| Inn at Wildwood: Play golf or hike, fish and swim among yellow-billed cuckoos |
The Inn at Wildwood is clean and comfortable, with a fitness center, pool and tennis courts, and of course the golf course, Wildwood Country Club, but the real attraction here is the surrounding nature areas.

| Wildwood Country Club is a wild, natural golf outing in north Florida |
Wildwood Country Club in Crawfordville, Fla., is well designed for the resort set. It isn't overly long at 6,504 yards from the back tees, and it's very playable from back there for even medium-distance drivers of the ball. Many of the fairways are bounded by mounds, helping to keep the ball in play.

| Step into nature at The Perry Golf and Country Club in rural Florida |
The Perry Golf and Country Club is one of those rural Florida golf courses with cheap green fees and, rare for Florida, no development around to cloud your golf thoughts. It's so far out in the sticks, Jed Clampett would be lonesome.

| Jefferson Country Club in Monticello: The price is right for nine or 18 |
Good smaller golf courses are hard to find in rural Florida, but Jefferson Country Club is a notable exception. It's also a steal at $21 for nine or 18, Tim McDonald writes for FloridaGolfGuide.com.

| Disney World resorts and villas offer golfers numerous lodging options |
Walt Disney World has just about as many accommodation possibilities as it has furry little characters running around its many attractions. And for golfers, staying at a Disney property comes with many benefits, including free transportation, discounted green fees, advanced tee times and more.

| More than Mickey: Disney scores with PGA-caliber golf courses too |
For the Walt Disney World Resort, and for that matter all of amusement-rich Orlando, golf can get lost in the array of amusements and high-octane kids. But golf shouldn't be an afterthought for visitors to Disney, because it's foursome of golf courses are among Florida's best.

| There are no springs at Rainbow Springs Golf and Country Club, but there are plenty of bunkers and angles |
With a name like Rainbow Springs Golf and Country Club, you might expect a beautiful golf course with some sparkling, multi-hued watery hazards. You'd be half right. Rainbow Springs is a very picturesque layout, but there's not a drop of water to swallow your golf ball.

| Candler Hills Golf Club in Ocala: No water or alligators but plenty of wide fairways and big greens |
The people at Candler Hills Golf Club like to advertise their course as an "atypical" Florida course. That might be the subject of debate, but there is definitely one characteristic of the course you don't often find in the courses of this golf-happy, flat peninsula nearly surrounded by salt water and inundated in the interior by lakes, rivers, streams and marsh: No water. As in, none.

| Ocala Golf Club in central Florida: A golfer's trip back down Memory Lane |
While maybe it's not the oldest in Florida, the Ocala Golf Club is old. It's so old, no one can remember who the original architect was. It's been modernized nicely to keep up with growing Ocala and Marion County, however, and it's no pushover, National Golf Editor Tim McDonald writes. The fairways are tree-lined and the greens are no picnic, either.

| Innisbrook Resort's Island golf course near Tampa draws some attention away from sibling Copperhead |
The Copperhead course at the Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor used to get all the attention. But with the resort under new ownership, the older Island course, is getting a lot of well-deserved love, Tim McDonald writes.

| Crandon Park Golf Course on Key Biscayne loved by crocodiles, iguanas and politicians |
Crandon Park is one of the best deals in South Florida, when you combine price and the quality of the experience. The course can be a handful, especially if you play it from the back tees, with the near-constant wind that comes sweeping over the unprotected layout.

Tampa's newest boutique golf resort, Emerald Greens boasts 27 holes of Dan Maples-designed golf (and positively decadent air-conditioned golf carts!), plus luxury villas, a spa, restaurants, tennis and aquatic centers, and more.

| Cleveland Heights Golf Course a little oasis in downtown Lakeland |
Cleveland Heights Golf Course is a little oasis in the middle of bustling, growing Lakeland, with lakes, ponds and the sort of critters you don't normally associate with a downtown. Peacocks, alligators, geese and hawks look at home amid the water and the moss-draped oaks. There is a noticeable lack of urban noise. "This is probably the nicest piece of property in Polk County," said course general manager Brock Witmyer.

| Golf Club at Bridgewater destined to be a star course in Lakeland |
There's nothing like a brand new golf course, especially when you know it's going to grow up to be a star. The Golf Club at Bridgewater is younger than new - it hasn't even been born yet. Actually, that isn't technically true. The course itself is raring to go, it just needs someone to play it.

| Destin's Regatta Bay Golf and C.C.: Smooth as a sunset sail across Choctawatchee Bay |
You won't find many settings more beautiful than where Robert Walker laid out Regatta Bay Golf and Country Club in that strip of vacation land that lies between the rolling dunes of the Gulf of Mexico and the languid waters of Choctawatchee Bay.

| New set of tees improves an already superb golf outing at Kelly Plantation in Destin |
Kelly Plantation in Destin is an interesting, if fairly straightforward, golf course, with most of the hazards easy to spot and not much nasty stuff lurking unseen. "It's not set up to be hard for the average golfer," Assistant Professional Trey Childs said the last time I visited, and that hasn't changed.

| Indian Bayou Golf Club is a longtime staple of the Destin golfing scene for a reason |
Indian Bayou Golf Club is a 20-year-old staple of the Destin golf scene, and if it's been around that long, it must have something going for it. Indeed it does, Tim McDonald writes.

| Hombre Golf Club in Panama City Beach is a tight treat, cooled by Gulf breezes |
Hombre Golf Club is a nasty little gem in spitting distance of the Gulf of Mexico. This isn't a course to experiment with your driver. It rewards accuracy over macho. But if you like a subtler challenge, you will enjoy Hombre.

| Cheap, close and unpretentious: Florida's best municipal golf courses |

Sometimes you just want to take your hacks without taking a wallet hit. Florida golf is loaded with quality municipal courses like Crandon Park, Daytona Beach Golf Club and The Golf Club at Cypress Head where you can get in a quality round for a few C-notes.

| The Cypress golf course at the Grand Club shows off Palm Coast scenery near Jacksonville |
At the Grand Club's Cypress course, elevated tees set you up nicely above the wetlands. This the Gary Player design near Jacksonville, Fla., takes you through tight, tree-lined fairways, with some love grass and pot bunkers thrown in to please Scottish enthusiasts. Some nice, grass-topped bunkers guard the approaches to some of the greens.
